Walmart Grocery Pickup

HOW IT WORKS

• Start building your cart on the Grocery page of Walmart.com or the Walmart App.
• Choose your designated Walmart location & pickup time window.
• Enter your payment method and you will be notified via email or text when your order is ready.
• Check any items you would like substituted if they are unavailable in-store.
• Note that your cart total must be $35+ for free pickup. Otherwise, it will be an additional $5.99 fee.
• Add in any applicable promo codes.
• New members can receive $10 off their first order of $50 or more with code WOWFRESH.
• After placing your order, Walmart will either text or email you when it's ready. You respond when you're on the way, and, upon arrival, mention which pickup spot you're in and the color of your car.
• When the employee brings out your groceries, they load them into your car, and you sign their device to acknowledge you've received your groceries.

WHY WE LOVE IT

• No marked-up prices! Shop products with in-store pricing rather than inflated prices like other shopping services.
• Score sales! Rollback and clearance prices are available on sale items.
• It's more than just groceries! You can shop for household goods and small appliances in addition to your favorite food products.
• Saves money and time! Having someone else do your shopping helps prevent impulse purchases or time wasted roaming the aisles.
• No hidden fees. It's pretty much the exact same as if you were shopping yourself; what you see is what you get!
• They remember past orders. You can simply look back on previous purchases and add the same things to your cart, which saves tons of time!

WHAT WE DON'T LOVE

• Clearance or mark-down items are unavailable when using Grocery Pickup.

WHAT OUR TEAM THINKS:

"We do Walmart curbside 3-4 times a month for household items and anything our local grocery store might not have. It's so convenient, and the employees that bring the orders out are so nice and helpful. Our state banned plastic bags recently, so they even pack all our items into our shopping totes right in the trunk.
I prefer to go in-store for my groceries, but I don't think I'll ever stop using curbside for my Walmart stuff - no crowds, no lines, and no impulse buys that I don't really need."

Target Drive Up

HOW IT WORKS

• Select your store's location on the Target App and start building your cart. It will tell you an approximate time of when your order will be ready.
• Save any coupons and promotions to your account as you virtually shop.
• As you choose your items, select "Drive Up" under the "Pick it up" options.
• Add any discounts you saved while shopping at checkout.
• Add in your payment and any additional promo codes.
• You will receive a notification via email and the app when your order is ready for pickup, and you can reply by selecting "I'm on my way", so they start preparing to expect you.
• Head to the designated Drive Up parking spots and notify Target that you've arrived. A Target team member will bring out your groceries and check your verification code on the app.

WHY WE LOVE IT

• No marked-up prices! Shop products with in-store pricing rather than inflated prices like other shopping services.
• No minimum fee and quick! Unlike other services, there is no minimum fee for Drive Up. Target most likely has Drive Up times available same-day usually within two hours.
• It's more than just groceries! You can shop the huge variety of products from Target, so if it's in stock and eligible for in-store pick-up, you can opt to add it to your Drive Up order.
• Saves money and time! Having someone else do your shopping helps prevent impulse purchases or time wasted roaming the aisles.
• Same-day delivery! The majority of the time, you'll be able to pick up your order in under four hours.

WHAT WE DON'T LOVE  

• Refrigerated items are not insulated with Target Drive Up, so if you have your own insulated bag and a long drive, try to bring one.

WHAT OUR TEAM THINKS:

"Target is my favorite hands down as there is no order minimum, no pickup fee and it’s ready in 2 hours or less. When I pull up to the Drive Up parking spot to my store, the Target employees are already halfway out to my car! So fast and easy! Better yet, I avoid all of the impulse buys when I don’t go into the store, like the cheap finds in Bullseye’s Playground."

Instacart Pick Up

HOW IT WORKS

• At the top of your home page, select pick up and enter your address.
• Pick which grocery store you want to order from (tons of local options including Aldi, Wegmans, HEB, etc..).
• Add your items to the cart as normal. You can select substitutions as well if what you're looking for isn't available.
• When you're ready to check out, select a time frame to pick up and pay.
• Instacart will send you updates. If you have the app, the shopper will constantly update you with what they've successfully found or if something is out of stock and needs a replacement.
• You notify them but clicking "I'm at the store" and you select what type of car you have.
• Depending on the store, you'll receive instructions on whether you stay in your car or head inside for pickup.

WHY WE LOVE IT

• You're constantly being updated by the shopper! It's nice being in constant contact with the shopper who lets you know everything they have found as well as when they are checking out of the store.
• It's super quick! Usually, you can pick up within an hour and a half on the same day.

WHAT WE DON'T LOVE  

• Price adjustments are common if the shopper picks something slightly different than what you asked for.
• Pickup fees will vary based on location, but it's still way cheaper than using Instacart's delivery service.
• Sometimes prices are inflated than in-store, but this isn't Instacart's fault; according to their website, the retailers choose how much their products cost on Instacart.

WHAT OUR TEAM THINKS:

"With Instacart, I find it super convenient that I have a live person shopping for me and keeping me in the loop. It lowers the likelihood of them messing up my order, and I appreciate the time the shoppers take!
I also find that if there is a mix-up, Instacart is super accommodating and willing to give you a refund on anything forgotten or wrong. The pick up option always has super clear instructions as well; I prefer it from spending almost $30 extra for Instacart delivery."

Local Grocery Pickup

Depending on your local grocery stores, you may have retailers who participate in their own grocery pickup programs! Note that each store's policies, procedures, and product availability will vary based on your specific store, but checking out your grocer's website may help guide you to their (if any) grocery pickup options.

WHY WE LOVE IT

• Saves money and time! Having someone else do your shopping helps prevent impulse purchases or time wasted roaming the aisles.
• Shop locally! You'll be helping out your neighborhood stores by choosing to give them your loyal business.
• Some may accept coupons! This will vary depending on the store, but you can check to see if your grocer will allow you to apply manufacturers' coupons upon pickup.

WHAT WE DON'T LOVE

• There may be fees or price markups on groceries depending on your grocer or service. It's best to call your local store if you have questions about their pickup policy.

"I often pick up groceries from my local Woodman's (lately I've been relying on Instacart to deliver my groceries) but I definitely enjoy going to pick them up, as I get a chance to look over my produce and see the substitution items they selected for the items I chose that weren't in stock.
